David A. LaRue, Attorney at Law
David Andrew LaRue was born and raised in Steubenville, Ohio. He graduated from Steubenville High School in 1979. After graduating high school, LaRue first attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. He moved on from there to attend The Ohio State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree, graduating with honors in liberal arts in 1983. He began attending the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in the fall of 1983, and completed his first year of law curriculum. He then transferred to Duquesne University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor degree, graduating in the top 20% of his class in 1987.
LaRue’s legal career began as a Staff Attorney for Advance Financial Savings Bank, where he handled real estate closings, collection suites, and regulatory compliance matters. In 1990, LaRue became an associate attorney with the Washington, Pennsylvania firm of Melenyzer and Tershel, where he performed probate, estate planning, real estate, business law and bankruptcy law work.
In December of 1991, LaRue returned to his home town to open his own law practice. His practice is focused on advocacy for the elderly and their families. As an elder law attorney, LaRue has helped more than 2500 clients. In 1996, LaRue became one of approximately 5,000 members of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He is also an active member of the National Care Planning Council. These organizations support the efforts of members in dealing specifically with the legal issues that affect the elderly population and their families. Additionally, LaRue is accredited as an attorney with the Veterans Administration, and has helped more than 1000 veteran clients with their legal needs.
In addition to LaRue’s focus on Elder Law and advocacy for the elderly, his practice includes traditional Estate Planning and Probate Law, Long Term Care Planning, Retirement Fund Distribution Planning, Small Business Planning, Real Estate, as well as several additional general law practice areas.
